When Brian Steele met Justin Johnson at a dinner party in Las Vegas, he thought he was meeting a guy who could help him find the perfect wife.
It was the 1980s and Mr Johnson was a high school football star.
His father, Bob Steele, was a former NFL star and the elder Steele was the team’s coach.
The younger Steele and his wife were living in Vegas and Mr Steele was trying to find a place to live while his wife was busy running the business.
“She was a great cook and I liked her,” Mr Steele recalled.
“I said, ‘Well, you know, you’re the husband, you are. “
And if I were a man and I had a wife, you would not be in my house.'” “
I said, ‘Well, you know, you’re the husband, you are.
And if I were a man and I had a wife, you would not be in my house.'”
And he was right.
After a few months of arguing, the two got married.
But it wasn’t for good reasons.
“I’m not going to make a big deal out of this,” Mr Johnson told The Age newspaper in 2013.
“We’re still married.
She’s still my wife.
We’re still friends.”
In the days that followed, the relationship soured, and Mr Stevenson became frustrated.
“Justin’s the most charming, funny guy, and he’s the kind of guy who gets you on a first date,” Mr Stevenson said.
And he did. “
So I called him up and I said, you look like you’re going to get along fine, but it’s going to be different this time.”
And he did.
“He’s just such a good guy, he was a good dad and he was my best friend,” Mr Anderson said.
But his friendship with Mr Stevenson was shattered when Mr Johnson moved back to the state, leaving the young Mr Steele with the wife of a family friend.
“There’s just no chemistry between us,” Mr Silva said.
Mr Stevenson, who was in his early 30s, was devastated.
“It was just devastating, and so I had to go on with my life, but I couldn’t have another relationship,” he said.
He eventually divorced his wife and they separated.
Mr Johnson said he and his children had “lost touch” with him and his family.
“A lot of times when people go through divorce, it’s the first time in their lives,” Mr Evans said.
In recent years, Mr Stevenson has taken to using his Twitter account to vent about his experience and share the stories of other people with disabilities. “
What I’m trying to do is get out of that, get away from that.”
In recent years, Mr Stevenson has taken to using his Twitter account to vent about his experience and share the stories of other people with disabilities.
He has written that he has “been bullied for being a disability”, said he has been verbally abused at work and that he is in a “cruel” situation.
But he also said he was able to get through his relationship with Mr Steele because he was the “best man”.
“I have this incredible, amazing friendship with this man, and Justin is the best man, no matter what,” Mr Ingle said.
