TalkSport has learned that the world of stainless steel has been growing ever since the US government began testing it for the first time in 1962.
In the intervening decades, there has been a huge rise in the number of stainless steels used in consumer products, including the latest models from the likes of Samsung and LG.
It is now a popular choice in the world’s most popular refrigerators and air conditioners, with more than 80 percent of the world consuming stainless steel, according to a 2015 survey by the Swiss-based research group Leibniz.
While it is important to note that the World Health Organization (WHO) considers stainless steel as a ‘non-hazardous’ material, there is still a lot of debate about its safety.
Many believe that the use of stainless is an unnecessary risk, since the chemical composition of stainless does not contain any harmful chemicals.
However, there are also many who believe that stainless steel should not be used for water cooling because it is prone to corrosion, which can lead to an unsafe condition.
According to Leibneniz, stainless steel is often considered as ‘soft’ in the sense that it is not very durable, which leads to it being used for a lot more than it’s intended purpose.
While this is the case with stainless steel pipes, this does not necessarily mean that they can be used in water cooling systems, especially since the heat transfer coefficient of stainless remains a key concern, the company added.
The research firm also reported that in 2018, the global use of steel in watercooling systems rose by 22 percent to 1.2 billion tonnes, while it fell by 19 percent to 6.6 billion tonnes.
However the biggest increase was in the US, where use of the material rose by 17 percent to 8.1 billion tonnes and use in water heaters fell by 9 percent to 2.8 billion tonnes in the same year.
“The main reason for the rapid increase in the use is the need for more efficient water cooling devices, as well as the increase in efficiency of the water cooling system as a whole, Leibntiz said.
It is estimated that as much as half of the US population now uses stainless steel.

However, the main reason that the US has such high use of it is because it has the highest carbon footprint, as it is made from recycled material.
This is important for water heating systems because carbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas and is therefore the most important greenhouse gas in the energy consumption of water heating,” Leibermann added, noting that CO2 is not only a greenhouse gases but also a potent neurotoxin.
While the US is one of the largest consumers of stainless in the whole world, other countries such as France, Germany and Italy are also growing in their use of this material.
“A big factor in the rise in use of carbon fibre-based pipes is that they are used as an alternative to stainless steel,” Lebmann said.
“In the US the demand for carbon fibre pipes has risen, but the US also has a very high usage of stainless.
This suggests that the consumption of carbon fiber pipes is actually a result of people’s concern over the use and sustainability of the materials,” he added.
However it is still not easy for people to get a carbon fibre pipe, as there are some companies who make carbon fibre water pipes.
For example, Aquafiber, which is owned by Danish company, Karelia, makes a carbon fiber water pipe that has a stainless steel tip.
“They use carbon fibre for a good reason, because it offers good strength and it is lightweight,” Leebmann said, adding that they do not make a carbon filter because it requires special equipment to filter the water.
“But I don’t think we can use the water pipe for heat since it is too thin, but it can be useful for cooling.”
He said the market for carbon fiber pipe is also very competitive, as most manufacturers make them in smaller quantities.
However, he cautioned that some brands, like Aquafibers, may be selling more than one type of pipe at a time.
“We do not have a way to know whether the water pipes sold by a certain brand are carbon fibre, stainless or a combination of the two,” he said.
The use of recycled materials is also increasing in the water heat industry.
The industry has seen a huge increase in demand in recent years, with the market size up by 60 percent in the last five years, according a study by the market research firm E-Kontrol.
However this increase has been fuelled by a change in the regulations around the use, use and recycling of recycled products, such as paper towels and other items that are used in manufacturing, according Leibeniz.
